This instrument is designed based on the basic requirements of insulation resistance measurement, using newer electronic circuits. Its basic principle is to measure the resistance value of the measured object using voltage and current methods: R=V/I. The internal storage and computing circuits enable the machine to automatically measure the absorption ratio (R1min/R15s) and polarization index (R10min/R1min).

The KD508 high-voltage insulated megohmmeter uses a high-voltage inverter circuit to invert DC power supply into rated high voltage outputs of 1000V, 2500V, 5000V, and 10000V, which are applied to both ends of the tested object. A new voltage and current sampling circuit is used to divide the voltage at both ends of the tested object and the current flowing through the tested object, and the digital result is output to a high-precision A/D converter. The A/D conversion result is then output to the MCU circuit for processing. And the resistance value and R1min/R15s, R10min/R1min are directly read by the large LCD display screen. The MCU circuit stores multiple sets of R15S, R60S, R600S measurement data, which can be manually retrieved and read, and then R1min/R15s, R10min/R1min calculations can be performed.
