Precision Measurement Secures Grid Safety: Kaidi Zhengda KDYZ-HC1 Insulator Hydrophobicity Tester Pa
05 Jun-2026

In high-voltage transmission and substation systems, insulator hydrophobicity is essential for preventing pollution flashovers. Accurate live-line testing equipment is key to reliable condition-based maintenance.

The KDYZ-HC1 Insulator Hydrophobicity Live-Line Detection Device, developed by Wuhan Kaidi Zhengda Electric Co., Ltd., has been fully calibrated by the Hubei Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology (IMTT). The results confirmed excellent performance across all indicators.

The calibration was conducted under standard conditions (19.9°C, 60% RH) using a certified 500mm steel ruler, following GB/T 38762.1-2020. The device achieved a measured value of 310mm with an expanded uncertainty of only 5mm (k=2), reaching industry-leading accuracy.

The water spray angle directly affects hydrophobicity classification. At a 250mm test distance, the KDYZ-HC1 provides stable, consistent spray and well-defined wetting patterns, ensuring reliable and repeatable results.

Designed for field use, the KDYZ-HC1 maintains stable performance over time, supporting live-line detection, fast assessment, and accurate grading — suitable for transmission lines and substations.

With certified accuracy and robust design, the KDYZ-HC1 helps shift grid maintenance from reactive repair to preventive action, reducing flashover risks and improving power system reliability.

Kaidi Zhengda continues to advance power testing technology, offering professional, reliable, and intelligent solutions for insulator inspection.
